About Us
Bitter Maiden Productions is a creative home for bold, unflinching new voices. Founded by Lily Mannon, the company is committed to developing socially and culturally resonant theatrical works that center female perspectives, multigenerational narratives, and meaningful community collaboration.
Bitter Maiden brings early-stage works to life—connecting stories and communities while confronting collective apathy around pressing national issues. Inspired by the image of a rebellious, curious girl steering her own ship through uncharted waters, the company reclaims the figure of the “maiden” as one of agency, transformation, and creative defiance.
This spirit fuels Bitter Maiden’s mission: to flip the script on traditional storytelling and champion narratives that challenge, provoke, and inspire. In addition to producing new work, the company hosts workshops, public events, and student initiatives that invite emerging artists to explore and embody bold, original stories.
Through these programs, Bitter Maiden cultivates inclusive, intergenerational spaces where artists can take creative risks, build community, and push the boundaries of contemporary theater.
